Dress for the weather. Come learn good tree care practices!
We will be preparing the newly planted Pear, Cornelian Cherry, and Service Berry trees for winter.
When the weather turns cold, mice eat the bark of saplings, so we are putting mouse guards around the trees. We will also be adding some mulch and top dressing compost to prepare for Spring companion planting and to reduce root competition.
If you are new to Boston Nature Center, come up the road into the urban wildlife sanctuary and take your first left to meet near the gazebo with the picnic benches, across from the food forest. We provide tools and garden gloves, and suggest you bring a water bottle.
