Food Forest Maintenance Coordinator
emily@bostonfoodforest.org
Emily’s role with the Boston Food Forest Coalition involves ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of the coalition's diverse food forest sites across the city. Their role collaborates closely with stewards, providing technical support and mentorship in ecological landscaping techniques while sharing knowledge of ecological systems that help inform maintenance practices.
Born and raised in Dorchester, Emily has always been passionate about green spaces in urban environments, seeing them as vital for wildlife and community connection. This passion guided them to the University of Maine, where she studied Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Sciences and gained experience as a technician on projects examining human impacts on natural systems. Emily lived as a resident steward of the Terrell House Permaculture Living and Learning Center, working on homesteads and organic farms in order to learn more ecological gardening practices and deepen their understanding of harmonious human-nature interactions.
Outside of work, Emily is currently an herbal apprentice, exploring the intersection of food and herbal medicine. They enjoy cooking with foraged ingredients, bird watching, and making music with friends.
