Come and learn about pruning and propagation to increase your food forest bounty!
In this workshop, you will learn the basic skills of pruning your trees for better health and fruiting. Our instructor is a professional arborist with years of experience, who maintains the fruit trees of the Boston Nature Center. You can also sign up for the Intermediate Pruning workshop on Sunday, March 10.
In the afternoon session, we will turn to some simple but useful methods to take cuttings from your mature trees and bushes for propagation. Doing your own propagation allows you to grow your food forest while saving money, and to share with your friends and neighbors.
Ben Crouch, owner of Land of Plenty landscaping. Ben has years of experience working with trees and landscapes and has taught many pruning workshops. He also maintains the fruit trees of the Boston Nature Center.
Ruth Rudiez, owner of Gardens by Ruth landscaping. Ruth worked in small villages in Senegal and at local farms before starting her own company with the mission to re-populate the local urban environment with native plant species and empowering people to grow food for themselves and their communities.
You can take this course as part of the Applied Permaculture Series.
