Learn how to protect your young trees from winter’s frost!

Location and Time: Mass Audubon Boston Nature Center, meeting near the Gazebo next to the Community Gardens.  Time: 9 AM- 12:30 PM.

Winter is the time when most trees and shrubs in New England go dormant, but, that doesn’t mean you don’t need to take care of them! Your trees and shrubs have stored their energy in their roots so they can burst forth when Spring returns. In this workshop you will learn how winterize your trees for a good rest, how to protect them from a winter sunburn (yes, really!), and how to protect them from critters like deer, rabbits, and voles.

Our instructor is Ben Crouch, owner of Land of Plenty landscaping.  Ben has years of experience  working with trees and landscapes and has taught many pruning workshops.  He also maintains the fruit trees of the Boston Nature Center.  Ben’s teaching was enthusiastically received by all at earlier Applied Permaculture workshops this year on pruning trees and maintaining tree health.
