Back again: our popular acorn processing workshop!

Location and Time: Mass Audubon Boston Nature Center, meeting near the Gazebo next to the Community Gardens.  Time: 1:30-4:30 PM

Did you know that those millions of acorns lying around this time of year – in your yard, on the street, and in the woods all around – can be easily turned into a delicious and extremely nutritious food?  For thousands of years, acorns were a staple food for people around the world. Today, there is a renewed interest in these delicious and free nuts. Unprocessed acorns are bitter and unpalatable, but processed acorns have a sweet taste with a hint of vanilla and can be used for a variety of baking projects. In this workshop you will learn  steps to process acorns using tools you can find in your own kitchen.

Hint: if you sign up to take this workshop – start collecting some acorns beforehand, so that you have a nice stash at home to process once you know how!  🙂
