Wow!  Did you know you could collect and eat nuts that fall right outside your doorstep?  Come learn about these great foods that rain down from the trees!

Did you know there is plentiful food already growing wild all around you? Acorns are a nutritious food you can easily find in your neighborhood. For thousands of years, acorns were a staple food for people around the world. Today, there is a renewed interest in these delicious and free nuts. Unprocessed acorns are bitter and unpalatable, but processed acorns have a mild taste with a hint of vanilla and can be used for a variety of baking projects. In this workshop you will learn simple steps to process acorns using tools you can find in your own kitchen. Our instructor, Babette Wils, built a food forest in her back yard with trellises and espaliers, owns Big Foot Food Forest, a new permaculture farm in Montague, Mass., manages the Boston Food Forest Coalition workshops and is an experienced permaculture teacher.
