Propagation by Root Workshop

  • Boston Nature Center Food Forest 500 Walk Hill Street Boston, MA, 02131 United States (map)

Join BFFC for an exciting new workshop offering — Propagation by Root: Root and Rhizome Cuttings, Division, Transplanting.

We’ll begin the workshop by exploring basic plant biology of underground structures, followed by an overview of methods of propagation and practical applications in the garden and the wild. We’ll also discuss the ethicality of moving wild plants, in terms of increasing biodiversity and/or spreading invasive species.

For hands-on practice, we’ll work together in small groups on a root propagation project, which will include digging up some roots and playing around with repositioning them in the ecosystem.

This workshop will be led by Alex Klein, local arborist and herbalist. Learn more about him at alexkleinherbalist.com.
